Does anyone accept some data on Stanford's biological science program?

Hullo anybody! Are there any Stanford alumni who know about Stanford'due south biology program? Especially in the marine biology area?

Is Stanford inside reach for me? (Elaborated below)

Howdy! I am a soon to be senior and recently I've gotten more involved in trying to figure out where I want to go to college. I have researched a lot and Stanford is the university that has caught my eye. I am extremely interested in non only the physical location but also the holistic approach Stanford takes to try and create such a diverse community. I feel that the community that has been established is very highly-seasoned and would make for an amazing college experience.

All the same, upon watching many "how I got in" videos I quickly became extremely discouraged with my set of extracurriculars. I spend a lot of time with music (my main passion besides biological science), but don't concur many leadership roles. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me advice (the good and the bad) on how my perspective awarding looks.

Chance Me For Stanford REA

Hello, I am a rising Junior from a decently competitive schools (10 people to T20s), and I am thinking of applying to Stanford REA. I know Stanford rejects a lot of applicants in its early on round and heavily favors hooked applicants, then is information technology even worth applying early?

Demographics: Asian Male from Ohio, income > 400k

Intended Major: Symbolic Systems

Stats: three.98 UW (4.0 on Stanford scale), 4.6 W, 36 Deed
Subject area Tests: Math II(800), Physics(800)

ECs:

Chess Club: President, played for 10 years, won various state titles, certified principal, taught at many schools, organized tournaments in school, volunteered in camps.

Recommendation Letters:

Counselor (8/10)

Physics Teacher (ten/10, done all 4 physics APs, very good in class, talked to teacher a lot)

Latin Teacher (ix/10, had for 4 years, did research project on philosophy with him, very close)

So, I think I have a pretty articulate Stalk tilt, just obviously it is not going to be good enough to rely on in lodge to get into Stanford REA. I take ever done a lot of social science classes and I think it is smart to portray myself as somebody who is proficient in Stem but also very interested in philosophy (I take read a lot of philosophy, and did a philosophy project with my Latin teacher). My essays mainly focus on my earth view of combining philosophy and physics to construct meaning in obscure things, and I call up they are actually unique. I am also thinking of doing Symbolic Systems if I go to Stanford, and so I think highlighting my philosophy/psychology learning in combination with physics is a good idea for that.

I am also getting my Latin teacher to write a divide letter just for Stanford in which he highlights my philosophy project and mentions that I am a good fit for the Symbolic Systems program at Stanford. Idk how much that will help tho.

Conclusion: I am trying to cleave out a niche every bit an Asian who is potent in Stalk simply also very interested in subjects like philosophy and psychology. This should come through in my essays and my recommendation letters. So, do you call back I have a shot as an unhooked bidder at Stanford REA, or should I EA/ED to a different school?

Do I have a risk?

Afterwards researching for several weeks for my 'platonic' major, I've found my profound honey for "human behavioural biology". It is what I program on majoring in after watching professor Robert Sapolsky's lectures for hours. My involvement in that field has grown and then much to the point that I know for a fact that this is what I want to pursue. And with the growth of my involvement in that field came my increasing honey for Stanford's system. I plan on applying to it equally my first choice, but I'd like to know what are my chances and how I can heave my resume and application to stand out.
(If you lot have any suggestions to ameliorate my application as an International student, delight tell me about them.)
I've maintained a GPA of 4.0 throughout loftier schoolhouse.
I took 5 external exams in 10th grade (IGCSE English, Math, Biology, Arabic, and Informatics and scored 4A*s and 1 A)
In 11th grade, I took xi external exams nonetheless none of the marks is released even so.
My extracurriculars are:
Gymnastics (I've won golden, silver, and statuary medals)
Volleyball (made it to the official team and competed nationally and won third identify)
Science fair (levitated a coil using boil currents and scored a 4.two/v winning 2nd place)
Shadow Academic Quality Controller
Shadow teacher for 7 subjects
Mentor
(I conducted extra classes on my weekends for students who struggle academically or demand help in sure areas every week but due to corona I had to resort to video calls)
I started a projection I'm extremely passionate about with my best friend. We are creating a website that offers academic help for students who are struggling with online classes (information technology tin can exist used past anyone fifty-fifty afterwards regular classes outset once over again). The reason I was motivated to start edifice this website is that every day, I run into people giving up on trying to attend the college they've always dreamt of or the major they wanted to pursue. I saw potential being thrown away on a daily ground. Afterward researching and asking multiple people, I found out that the primary reason they were giving up was due to their low self-esteem levels. They felt that they were no longer competent enough due to their hard time focusing and learning from online classes.
The site I am currently edifice won't just provide bookish support, simply it volition likewise provide motivational and emotional support to those who feel broken and tin can't continue (and later on this year I plan on starting a blog where nosotros promote equality, social harmony, cocky-acceptance, and self-dear). (I plan on doing and so by calculation a motivational department and an anonymous section where people can talk over what'south on their mind without being known and in turn we will respond and provide the maximum support we can. I've also created official social media sites where people tin text the states if there is something they demand to meet through or just simply want a more individual talk about). I plan on carrying on with this project even afterward graduation and I will diversify the site'due south content. This is considering I believe that everyone has the potential to succeed and a voice that deserves to be empowered and heard. This is a big lifetime projection which I am very excited most.
Thanks for your time and patience.

Should I attend TASP or Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies?

Here's the thing: Stanford is my absolute dream school. And I feel like attention their summertime pre-collegiate programs would definitely demonstrate my interest in their schoolhouse. Plus I've heard that many attendees end up actually getting into Stanford (def not certain if it's true bc i'm pretty sure the summer plan isn't that selective simply a lot of ppl have said this). I already got into their summer program and I'thou waiting to hear back from TASP. I know TASP is more prestigious only if I finish up getting into both, which should I cull?

Tin my research mentor write a separate note to the admissions office?

I've worked on two research projects as a high schooler at Stanford, both in different depts. Both of my mentors are professors, and I worked very closely with them. Stanford, however, says that they will merely accept a maximum of one additional Letter of Rec. How could my second mentor support my application? Would information technology exist immune if they dropped off a brusk note of back up in-person at the admissions function? Is there a ameliorate style to do this?

Stanford SCEA -- influence of Cameron Impact Finalist?

Hi, all.

Equally a ascent senior, I'm finalizing my listing of colleges to apply to, and I've been heavily considering Stanford SCEA, but am attempting to fairly gauge whether I'd really have a chance or non.

Mainly, I was wondering how influential beingness a Finalist for the Cameron Impact Scholarship would be in the ultimate decision. To exist clear, I have not been named a Finalist and I plan on applying RD for the award this year, only I was wondering if anyone knew -- do nearly AO'due south at Stanford and other colleges already recognize the prestige of something like a Finalist for the Cameron Impact Scholarship? And if so, is being a Finalist for something this major essentially a congratulations/very loftier chance at Stanford?

For reference, the Cameron Impact Scholarship is a total-tuition scholarship given to extraordinary students for community leadership and academic excellence. The program has a <4% acceptance rate for Finalists, and <1% for Recipients. I'm wondering if being named a Finalist is substantially a lock for something similar Stanford, and if not, how much influence information technology could have.

Any help is appreciated, I'm just trying to understand the procedure better.

(Once more, not a Finalist (non yet!), just I can promise!)

Hello, all. But wondering if I could get any 2d opinions on my chances at Stanford REA. My primary business organization is my grades.

GPA (UW): 3.88, Weighted: 4.6 (xv AP courses, all iv's and 5'southward)

Master EC'southward:

Can y'all get into Stanford with a three.5 UW GPA?

I know I know many of you are probably thinking "is this child joking?? single hardest school to go into and you're asking most a 3.5"

Here's the dealio: I know my chances are slim. I know they are slimmer than slim. I even heard that students (who aren't recruited athletes) that have GPAs below a 3.7 have an even lower chance of getting accustomed (like one% evidently). Simply say, in the All-time POSSIBLE scenario, I have a stellar awarding otherwise. Say I accept a great 1500 range SAT score, mindblowing essays, and amazing extracurrics (def not saying i accept all of these things, we're but imagining here ok)--AND THE Simply Thing I DON'T Have GOING FOR ME IS A High GPA because I've gotten multiple Bs and am not even top 10% of my class in terms of grades. The thing is, in comparison to the kids at my school (they're the directly-A only does things to look good to colleges and aren't that passionate blazon of ppl), my grades aren't great but I feel like my extracurrics & awards are farther upwardly at that place than virtually of them in that regard.

Would my subpar, wildly mediocre, even maybe even POOR grades (in comparison to other applicants) play a meaning role in belongings dorsum the access officers?

Please don't hate on this question, I realize that what I'thousand request is kind of unbelievable and even naive merely I'yard genuinely wondering.
